The EFR (Emergency First Response) course is a comprehensive medic first aid course designed to allow people to assist people in need of emergency care. The course is available to everybody, but is a necessary part of the PADI Rescue Diver Course . The course is conducted over a single day and is completely classroom based, with accompanying DVD and workbook for the students to follow. The course is broken down into two separate areas of care, Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care.

The skills learned in the Primary Care section include:

• Scene Assessment

• Barrier Use

• Primary assessment

• Rescue Breathing

• One Rescuer, Adult's CPR

• Serious Bleeding Management

• Shock management

• Spinal injury Management

• Conscious Choking Adult

• Emergency Oxygen Use

 
The skills you will earn in the Secondary Care include:

• Injury Assessment

• Illness Assessment

• Bandaging

• Splinting for Dislocations and fractures

This course is a great way for people to learn how to handle emergency situations, and once completed students will posses the necessary skills that could help save somebody's life.

Beware

Please remember that when you are choosing a place to do your diving course, it is not the center that is important, but the instructor. Many of the large dive centers employ inexperienced instructors, and you want to avoid this at all costs. If you are unsure please ask the center who your instructor will be and ask to see their qualifications. Here at Dive Travel Asia, the instructors that we use have a minimum of 1000 dives, and must have been an instructor for at least 5 years.
