If you are interested in fish, but have no idea what many of them are called, then the PADI Aware Fish Identification Specialty course is the one for you. The course is conducted over one day and consists of two open water dives and a knowledge development session with your instructor.

Your instructor will teach you the necessary knowledge and skills which are useful when trying to identify fish species. The dives will take place on one of Thailand's beautiful coral reefs which are home to over a thousand individuals species, but don't worry you won't have to identify the mall. With the aid of a marine life book, your instructor will illustrate the differences between different species and sub species recognition. The course is designed to cover these main topics, these are

1. The Project Aware philosophy about protecting worldwide aquatic ecosystem.

2. Fish family grouping and common characteristics of fish species found in the local area.

3. Fish surveying techniques and strategies for collecting valid data.

This course is a must for all fish lovers, and a great way to extend your diving knowledge to help you get more out of the diving.

Please remember that when you are choosing a place to do your diving course, it is not the center that is important, but the instructor. Many of the large dive centers employ inexperienced instructors, and you want to avoid this at all costs. If you are unsure please ask the center who your instructor will be and ask to see their qualifications. Here at Dive Travel Asia, the instructors that we use have a minimum of 1000 dives, and must have been an instructor for at least 5 years.
