 The PADI Diver
Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) course allows divers to fly through the water, at
speeds up to 4km/hr, an experience that every diver should feel.
The DPV
specialty course is conducted over one day and consists of two open water dives
and a knowledge development session. Your instructor will start the day by
introducing you to the DPV unit, and will cover the assembly, disassembly and
operation of the unit. A through pre-dive briefing will follow, where students
will be asked to hand in their completed knowledge reviews from their PADI DPV
Specialty manuals. The briefing will cover five main topics for consideration
by the student diver.
1. Planning,
organization, problems and hazards while diving with a DPV
2. Equipment
considerations including battery care, maintenance and precautions
3. The correct
procedures for
- Avoiding propeller entanglements
- Vehicle failure
- Safe ascents and descents
-
Runaway motors
- Determining your turnaround point.
4. Techniques to
ensure you don't harm the delicate aquatic environment
5. Techniques
for entering and exiting the water safely.
The PADI DPV is
great fun and helps you increase your skills and knowledge while under the
close supervision of a qualified PADI instructor.
