 Wreck diving
is one of diving's biggest thrills, with divers all over the world dreaming
about diving on a virgin wreck. If you like the sound of this, and want to gain
the skills to match your dreams, then the PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course is
for you.
The King Cruiser Wreck is located in between Phuket
and the Phi Phi Islands
offers divers the perfect p[lace to complete the four requires training dives.
The course is conducted over a minimum of two days, and you will be required to
complete the knowledge development sections of your PADI Wreck Diver Specialty
manual. Once you have completed these reviews, your experienced PADI instructor
will go through a knowledge development session with you, there they will go
over the three main objectives outlined for this course ,which are:
1. The planning,
organization, procedures and techniques, problems and hazards of wreck diving.
2. The preparation
and use of lights, air supplies, special equipment, penetration lines and
reels.
3. Limited
visibility diving techniques and emergency procedures.
As well as these three
objectives, the course has four main goals for student divers to achieve.
1. Enable divers to
recognize and avoid potential wreck diving hazards, and planning procedures
that make wreck diving enjoyable.
2. Understand the
historical value of wrecks and the social and legal issues surrounding diving
on them. Also learning about he pros and cons of artifacts recovery from a
wreck.
3. Planning and
organizing wreck diving trips on wrecks, which are in a similar environment to
that of the one on which you were trained.
4. Identify hazards
associated with wreck penetration, and
demonstrate the procedures used to minimize these hazards.
During your course your
instructor will help you understand the dangers associated with wreck diving,
so that you can appreciate these dangers, and enjoy the unique challenges that
wreck diving offers. The King Cruiser is an ideal wreck for this course as is
has everything, depth, current, hazards, penetration points and abundance of
marine life, especially scorpion fish and lionfish which add even more of a
challenge to wreck penetration. Students will be shown how to draw
detailed maps of the wreck, which will
highlight dangers, points of interest, depths and possible penetration points.
Divers will also learn about penetration techniques such as, specialized fining, laying lines, equipment considerations and
turning in confined environments. During all of your training an experienced
instructor, with hundreds of wreck dives will be at your side assisting you at
easy step.
