The PADI Scuba Review program is a course for certified divers who have not dived in a while, and would like to brush up on their skills. Also known as a refresher course, the scuba review is recommended for any divers who have not dived in at least 12 months, but this time period is also dependent on the individuals experience level. The course is conducted over one day and usually takes place at Racha Yai Island , although this course can be undertaken on Phi Phi Island , Racha Noi , or the Similan Islands , and consists of 2 dives.

During the boat ride out your instructor will give you a thorough briefing, and review the fundamentals that you learnt during your open water course. The instructor will assist you assembling your equipment, and review any questions you may have about your scuba gear.

Your first dive will be held in relatively shallow water where your instructor will firstly demonstrate a series of skills and will then ask you to repeat them. Once these skills have been successfully completed your instructor will take you on a guided tour of the reef. During your surface interval you will have the chance to discuss any problems you may have experienced during the dive, and your instructor will give you some useful tips to help you improve.

The second dive is more or less a fun dive, with your instructor helping you to fine tune any remaining problems, while guiding you around the beautiful coral reef systems.

Beware

Please remember that when you are choosing a place to do your diving course, it is not the center that is important, but the instructor. Many of the large dive centers employ inexperienced instructors, and you want to avoid this at all costs. If you are unsure please ask the center who your instructor will be and ask to see their qualifications. Here at Dive Travel Asia, the instructors that we use have a minimum of 1000 dives, and must have been an instructor for at least 5 years.
