In 1994 Bret Gilliam (previously vice President of IANTD) and Mitch Skaggs created the third to live technical agency, Technical Diving International known more commonly as TDI . Today, TDI is the most successful agency counting over 10'000 active instructors and 50 regional offices worldwide. TDI was also the first agency to offer training on rebreathers and the first workshop was held in 1995.
SDI, the recreational branch of TDI was developed later on the request of TDI instructors and the first courses where opened in 1999.
SDI is as fast growing as TDI was in the Tec field, thanks to a very
active marketing. Scuba Diving International offers essentially the
same style curricula as other sport agencies but with a few innovative
twists that have already created some excitement in the industry.

We did our PADI Open Water with Alex - he absolutely made the course, and the dives! I couldn't recommend him highly enough. We both felt that we were always in really safe hands which is so important but still had huge amounts of fun!Dinner and drinks afterwards with So and Alex were great - Alex is a goldmine for tips on where to travel on to around Thailand too! Take care - we'll definitely be back! Sarah and Simon Byers – New Zealand.
