Boulder City is one of the Similan’s most exciting dive sites, and often a great place to encounter some of the areas larger residents, Whale Sharks and Manta Rays. Boulder City is located around 1 kilometer off eastern side of Island number 3, and due to its position in deep water, this is always a fantastic dive.
As you might have already gathered, Boulder City is a dive site that consists of huge granite boulders scattered across the ocean floor. There is little in the way of coral growth here, but giant fan corals can be found hanging on the side of the boulders giving divers an idea of which ways the currents flow here.

The deep sandy areas around the outer boulders are a great place to find sleeping Leopard Sharks , as well as White and Black tip sharks. The boulders are also home to several colourful clownfish, schools of trevallies, snappers and barracudas and if you are lucky large Napoleon Wrasse. For those of you critter hunters, the surfaces of the boulders are home to several species of Nudibranches, sea slugs and the beautiful Spanish Dancers.
All in all this is a great dive site, one of Similan’s best, and not to be missed.
