Another great dive site located on Similan Island number nine is Christmas Point. The name is derived from the colourful Christmas tree worms that can be found on top of the hard coral formations. This site remains one of the Similan Islands most colourful and exciting dives, due to its abundance of soft corals, and thrilling swim-throughs.
The dive begins with a decent down to a sandy rubble area at around 20 meters; this area can be good for spotting stingrays and white tip reef sharks . The dive then heads out to some large under water arches and swim-throughs, where schools of hunting trevally can be viewed moving in and out of the boulders. The area’s around these boulders can also be good for spotting sleeping leopard sharks and the elusive ribbon eel.
This is a fantastic dive full of unbelievable underwater scenery, and is a must for any liveaboard trip to the Similan Islands
