Koh Bon is located in between the Similan Islands and Koh Tachai, and has become Thailand's number one dive site for encountering giant Manta Rays. In recent years, the rays have been spotted all year round, and on some occasions, more than eight individuals can be seen on a single dive. Koh Bon consists of three dive sites, the deep pinnacle, the west ridge and the bay, each with its own distinct scenery and marine life. Koh Bon Pinnacle lies just off to the west of the main island, and is a deep exposed site, usually reserved for advanced divers. The walls of the pinnacle are covered with vibrant soft corals, and various species of nudibranch can also be found, as well as juvenile angelfish and moray eels. The deeper sections of the pinnacle are great for finding leopard sharks, white tip sharks while lucky divers can see passing eagle rays and even manta rays. The West Ridge on Koh Bon is Thailand's best dive site for viewing the majestic Manta Ray . The ridge runs out from the south of the island and drops down to in excess of 40meters, nurse sharks can also be found sleeping under boulders along the ridges edge. The ridge is covered with colourful soft corals and sea fans, and is a great place to find smaller creatures like, pipefish, nudibranch's and frogfish. The Bay on Koh Bon is a great place for a night dive, with several coral bommies positioned across the sea floor. Octopus, squid and cuttlefish can be seen both day and night here, while the occasional Manta Ray can be seen swimming right into the shallows of the bay. Koh Bon Reef Guide
